I've heard rumors that the new album might have a more "metal" sound to it than anything DT has done. Anybody else heard anything?

Wowie, I didn't realise it was coming out already. Sweet.

I remember hearing about the more metal thing a while ago.

Ah, anything they do will be good.

    Hmmmmm.

7 songs on a 74 minute CD. I like how that averages out (10 minutes per).

Judging by titles alone I wonder if the lyrics will have a religous undertone.

I'm pretty sure that Stream Of Consciousness was the working title for Falling into Infinity and now it appears as a song. Hmmmm.

I always felt that Great Debate has a little more of an anti-cloning feel to it than not, despite it including both sides of the argument. And now these new song titles...

Could Dream Theater be going all religious on us? [IMG]

John, are you sure the CD is 74 minutes, or are you just assuming that?

Doing some surfing I came upon an interview with James Labrie. The interviewer said that he had heard that the new album is heavily influenced by "Master of Puppets". James didn't confirm this, he just stated that he didn't want to give anything away.

Now I don't need any extra incentive to get excited for a new Dream Theater album, but if this is true...[IMG]

I guess I'm one of the few who is hoping the album isn't too hard. If it's in the same vein as their other albums, that would be just fine! I prefer the sound of Jordan playing piano over Jordan playing synth, and if it's too heavy, there may not be much piano.

    Can't wait!

I for one was hoping they would get a new producer for this release. I have been disappointed in their last two albums. I will be passing on this one. IMO they definitely peaked at Awake.

I'm with Peter... I, too, have been disappointed in their releases since Awake. Maybe my musical tastes are changing, I dunno. Anyway, I'm looking forward to the new album's reviews!

Yeah, yeah, and for everyone who want them to do shorter, less pompous songs, there is someone who wants them to do full-blown prog concept double albums.

This is, they've done both really, really well, so whatever they wanna do is alright with me.

How cool would it be if DT released their new album in dvd audio or sacd? I think they are one of the bands that would sound amazing. Hell, Images and Words sounds better than mosts of my dvd audio disks already.

My vote is for DVD-A all the way. We definitely need DT in 5.1 MLP.

Yeah, I wish. They do not have that kind of clout.
