Shaune,

I haven't heard of the brand - you'd be better off searching these forums for recommendations (depending on your budget)

what's the support on these .. can you return them if you don't like the sound? A search on google turns up mainly auctions on eBay i'd worry that the Dream could turn into a nightmare. Compare this to a search for say, Paradigm Atom (they are, incidentally, wonderful)

IMO the _only_ way to buy speakers is to listen to them; the most recommended online retailers will have a return policy for home auditions; otherwise you can go to http://www.audioenvy.com/ and look for people willing to give you an audition.

how much were you looking to spend?

pure-acoustics.com/ is their website.

thanks, i am in australia, and i have about $500 to spend on speakers, and about $500 on a amp, but obviously if i can get these speakers for less then that and they are good then it will allow for subs etc.

these are the 2 systems i am looking at buying, im not sure which 1 is better...

"Brand new in boxes with 12-month full warranty"

ive heard of this brand Polk audio but not heard this particular set though they are reputable

I would be interested to know how much quality is in this brand.

An example:

Dream 76f:
Height=100 cm(39.4")
Widht=25.5 cm(10.0")
Depth=30.5 cm(12.0")
Weight=9.5 kg(21 lbs)

The weight makes me VERY suspicious. A floorstander of that size should weigh considerably more. My center channel is a qthird that size (22"x8.25"x12"), yet weighs TWICE as much as that. I'm starting to suspect an Austalian version of "white van" speakers. Based on the specs provided on the site, I would heed the obvious warning.

projectorsolution.com/pureacoustics.asp

i finnaly found a site that sells it.

hmm that is odd...when i look on ebay it says "54 kg per pair" so 27kg each for the floor standers, you would think that the makers website would be right

Well, the manufacturer site lists ALL their speakers with very light weights. Could they be wrong on all of them?

Are these speakers your only option? Why not consider a reputable, well-known brand instead of something very few have heard of and do not have highly questionable specification issues.

Is there a way you can audition these first?

ShauneWES,

Although I haven't heard their product line, I'd recommend you give Legend Acoustics speakers a try. They're an Australian brand. The founder of the company, Dr. Rod Crawford, used to work for Linn.

Dr. Rod Crawford Bio

I own a pair of Linn Nexus speakers that Dr. Crawford was the chief designer on, and I thoroughly enjoy them over any of the other speakers I have owned. Here's their website:

Legend Acoustics

They seem to be well received in audio circles down there.

You've stated a budget of $500 for speakers and I wasn't clear whether that is US or Australian dollars. If possible I would encourage you to concentrate a larger percentage of your funds for your front/center speakers, they are the work horses in music and movies. A subwoofer, although indispensible for movies, can be added on at later date, which may allow you to save up enough to get a more than decent one. Regardless, I do agree with others on this thread that basing your choice on listening sessions is the best way to go.

Cheers
