I've heard the same rumor and I hope it’s true. And I also hope that David Tennant is still the Doctor in Series 5 if this happens.

I think that seems likely; I gather the reason that 2009 is just going to be specials is that Tennant has a play lined up and wouldn't be able to shoot much. If they were going to recast, I think there'd be a full series next year.
