I vowed last week I was leaving HTF and I'm going to stick to it. However, my reason for quitting has nothing to do with the regulars in this section and I figured that before I leave I owed you nice folks this piece of news.

For those of you who are fans of Dr Who, the rumours of its return are absolutely true. The BBC (more accurately, BBC Wales, one of the regional branches of the BBC) is filming episodes around the area where I live at the moment. A colleague of mine writes for a SF magazine in his spare time and in fact has written several of the Dr Who novelisations. He has been following the BBC as they've been filming. There are going to be 10 or 12 episodes (2 of them 2-parters). And yes, the daleks will be making a return, in spite of anything you may have heard to the contrary.

The programmes should be broadcast in the UK some time earlyish next year.

Hey, we've know that the 'rumors' have been true for some time. Where have you been?

I too was a bit surprised about this thread. It's not rumoured, it's happening. The official BBC website posts news about the show, the official fan managzine has a column each month written by the producer, Russell T Davies. Here's the thread I started back in September last year, right after the announcement was made. And here's a thread discussing the casting of Christopher Eccleston as the Doctor.

(And Bille Piper, former pop singer, but apparently not a bad actor, is the companion, Rose.)

Still, thanks for starting the thread Andrew - any excuse for discussing the Doctor is appreciated. Goodbye from the HTF, and I hope life treats you well.

Matthew, sincere apologies - I searched back and couldn't find a thread. Oops! :b I therefore thought it was important news.

No problem, Andrew - I was amused, however, to note that you did actually contribute to one of the threads.
