I am about to start building a downfiring subwoofer using a 140L vented cabinet with ShivaIII. Should I mount the subwoofer to a base board or is the carpeted floor acceptable? Thanks in advance.

Either way you go, I'd use spikes.

Spikes transfer the least amount of vibration to the floor and walls. You don't want your whole house vibrating to the beat of your music, do you?
