Double Indemnity has recently been issued in Korea. As there is still no news of a possible reissue in Region 1, I was wondering whether anyone has obtained the Korean issue and could comment on its technical quality. If it appears to be a significant improvement on the old Image release, I would probably buy it as a stop-gap until a better R1 version materialises, hopefully from Criterion.

Thanks in advance for any information.

I'm interested also. My gut tells me that there's no improvement though. Sadly, this is a Universal title.

I have the Korean. Judging by screencaps it is the same transfer as the Image. The quality is not that bad though. Considering the low price it's a decent stop-gap solution.

anyone know what that oop Image disc is going for? I love this movie, but I know a better release has to be coming soon, was thinking maybe I'd unload this now if the market price was high enough.

A couple people on half.com are listing it for US$55-60, but I don't think they are having success. There's only one copy listed at eBay currently, and it is at $15 with 5 days to go.

    Regards,

The qulaity of the Image release is pretty poor. I would hold on for a Universal or, hopefully), Criterion release. The fact that Universal originally had this as part of their Film Noir line last year, (and then took it off), makes me believe that it is being worked on.

Universal announced this for release in March in R2, then it moved to April, then June - Amazon now has it down for August here; puzzling to think what the hold up could be?

I'd preordered the region two, which was supposed to be out today. I went to check and indeed it has been pushed to August 7th. Too bad.

I want this film on a good quality DVD almost as badly as Walter wanted Phyllis.
