Double Amarays and Disc Damage? (1 Viewer)

Came across a complaint at Amazon.com about the
double Amaray hub causing a TPM feature disc to crack
and then took a look at mine. And to my shock, I
found a scratch on the upper side of the disc
around the centre. It doesn't look like a crack.
Only a scratch. But the question is, what caused the
scratch? Could it be stress on the disc from the
plastic hub? I am of course speaking not about the
standard Amaray hub but the one of the added
disc holder.

I hate those cases with a passion. I have had at least 4 different discs that had cracked hubs because of it. I believe what happens is that the disc insertion machine just forces the discs onto the hub, and it gets cracked. Everytime I get a dvd that uses that damn hub, i have to hold my breath. I even got a dvd in Japan that cost around $35 that was cracked, but the !@#$ store wouldn't let me exchange it. Sorry for this off topic rant :)
I'm not sure what you mean by scratch...it seems weird that the case would cause a scratch, perhaps if you provide pictures?

Am unable to provide a picture, but the scratch is

about 4 centimeters long and runs at about 45 degrees

with the middle hole of the disc, extending from

near (but not on) the edge. As I said, it's on the

upper label side only and can't be seen from

underneath. It is possible the stresses of the case

caused the polycarbonate to stretch slightly and

the scratch is a crack in the process of forming.

My Jesus of Nazareth discs are also in a double

amaray, but the hubs have slightly different

tops beyond which the disc seems to be fairly

loose and not subject to stress. Ironically

enough, just a month ago I bought several double

Amarays for my Doctor Who audio CDs. Looks like

that was money badly spent.
