I don't like gimmicky DVD packaging, such as the upcoming "Munsters" Season Two, packaged as the head of Herman Munster.

First of all, at my age, it's embarrassing enough to be buying "The Munsters" without having to walk up to the cashier with what looks like a toy. I always have to say something like, "I'm getting this for my little niece Suky." To avoid that, I'm going to have to order this one online.

More importantly, it ruins the symmetry of my DVD collection. I don't like to look at the shelf and see Herman Munster's head peeking out over the top of the other DVDs.

What next? Will the upcoming "Alfred Hitchcock Presents" be in the shape of Alfred Hitchcock? Will "Leave It to Beaver" be the head of Eddie Haskell? Will "Superman" come in a cape?

I really love your superman idea! Oh, and I don't think the retail clerk cares about you that much...

I agree with Kyle. Why would you care what some teenager with a 2-second attention span thinks?

I have to agree with this one. I had thought about getting season one and two until I saw that horrid box work for Season 2. They really don't need to compete with the Simpsons box design and the Simpsons Homer Head buyers for that DVD set are going to be able to swap for a standard box.

    Phooey on these studios.

It's...different. If the first season were like it, I might go for both seasons; the fact that they had to do this for whatever reason for a show with one remaining season, though, is unusual at best.

Is it at least going to be the same height as the first season one or it not even going to fit on most DVD shelves at all? It's just really dumb when studios do that.

It's dumb, but what does it ultimately matter if you're a fan of the show? It's what is inside that counts.

I'll be buying it regardless of the case shape but I wish they had avoided this gimmicky packaging.

    Hey Joe!

I'm with you. Gimmicky packaging sucks.

However, if there would be a Beaver set shaped like the head of Eddie Haskell, I would love it! And I think your niece Suky would love it too.

I've been finding myself valuing thin packaging most lately. Fox is best right now for me on that count with the pretender and lone gunmen.

I love the packaging. I think its nice to see something different. I see some of the more imaginative packaging
that is produced overseas and wonder why they can't do it here. I bought the original packaging for Battlestar Galactica and love it. Put it on the mantle and will put this one right next to that one. I don't give a hoot what people think.

I can't beleive someone would actually be against original packaging. How dull life must be. And given the Munsters is from the 60s, shouldn't people expect to see older people buying it.

Because it's usually cheaply produced, it can be hard to get the discs out, and it just looks stupid.

The packaging looks bad and is sure to be awkward, but I won't let it stop me from buying the set. They should offer a regular box option as well for those who prefer it.
