I spent a lot of time researching through these posts, and I finally purchased all my components (speakers are next).
How do you suggest I connect these components for best picture and sound quality?
ONKYO TX-SR674 receiver;
PANASONIC DMR-ES25S DVD recorder;
SHARP LC-37D5U LCD TV;
DIRECTV HR10-250 HD DVR Satellite.

I guess I'm concerned with getting the best viewing picture from the satellite receiver, and getting the best recording picture onto the DVD recorder.

DMR-ES25S can't record progressive-scan or HDTV sources Since it's only input is Composite Video (yellow)

So the best connection is the HR10-250 connected HDMI to the Onkyo and Composite Video and Analog (red and white) since there is no Digital audio input and no Component Video to the DMR-ES25s Recorder.

Then the DMR-ES252 DVD Recorder/Player's HDMI output to the Onkyo's other HDMI Input.

Then the HDMI output of the ONKYO to the Sharp LC37D5U's HDMI Input

That's it!
