    Hello,

I am working on the layout of a new HT and have a question concerning rear speaker placement and angle. Due to the spouse factor I will be using satellite speakers mounted on a back wall. According to the Dolby site these speakers should be facing each other, but I have heard this may not be necessary. So my question is what is the correct way to mount satellite speakers on a back wall? Is there a proper way? Is there an angle they should be set at? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Dolby would suggest to the sides facing the listening position but I had found this to sound awkward when I tried it. I always preferred rear placement anyway. I would suggest facing them forward to the front of the room. You can also try to angle to the listening position but ultimately what sounds best to you in your room is the way to go. How far behind the listening position's plane are they?

They will be just a bit behind, like 3 to 4 inches behind.

    Thanks,
