ok, i'm new to this and i'm sure i don't have the greatest system in the world, but i shouldn't have this problem. when i view a dvd in dts mode everything is beautiful. but when i use any type of dolby option on a dvd the sound crackles and the voices are out of sync. with my limited knowledge i've run out of ideas on what to do. this is my system:

    htib-Kenwood htb-206
    tv-jvc av32f734
    dvd-polaroid dvp1000

How loud do you have your system running? As for A/V tracks being out of sync, this happens to some extent. Try stopping the player and then restarting it, which is the usual fix. Also, in your player's setup menu, make sure you have enabled Dolby Digital pass-through.

it happens even at low volumes. i don't have a dolby digital pass-through option. you mean on the dvd player, correct?
these are my audio options: spdif/off, spdif/raw, spdif/pcm.

it also has a downmix configuration with: vss, lt/rt, stereo, and off.

there is a digital setup page with: op mode- line out or rf remod.

use the spdif/raw, if you're not already..........
how long have you had it (system)?
the DD decoder could possibly have a problem......

It could be your DVD player, as my Hitachi did this as well (out of sync, not crackles in the sound). It turned out that it was simply outdated firmware on the player. Called Hitachi, and they sent an upgrade CD.

i went to polaroid's website and they had an upgrade available for download. it completely fixed the sound problems, but...now i have lines that keep popping up on the screen. this wasn't happening before.

What do you mean by lines? How often to they appear? Is it possible the disc you're using is dirty?

i tried a few discs and it happened on all of them. it's like static or interference or something. they only last a split second, but it's like bad reception. doesn't happen when i'm watching tv, only dvd, and it didn't happen until i updated the firmware for my dvd player.

Is it possible you loosened the cables or something similar when you updated the firmware? How exactly did you update it, anyways?

    i guess that's possible.

i went to the polaroid electronics website, clicked on downloads, and the only update they had was for my model. i followed their directions, burned it to a cd, and put it in the player.

Tim, what kind of connecters are you using from the TV to the DVD player? [IMG][IMG]
