By the title I mean, is there a difference in sound between plugging the audio outs on a cable box to the CD labled ports and the Video 1 ports? Or is it just the lables?

All audio inputs on your receiver are line level so it doesn't really matter which inputs you use. WITH ONE EXCEPTION The phono input should only be used with a turntable since it already has a built in preamp. Basically, use any audio input you like for any purpose except the phono input.

Along with the Phono Input, watch out for the Tape In and Out. If you have a tape deck you would want to use the Tape Inputs as it let's you select what input to record from by using the Tape Monitor switch in front and selecting the other input with the main knob.
