If not, should I get a progressive scan DVD player? Will 3:2 pulldown on a TV like this make much of an approvement?

    Thanks,

No. But it does such a good job playing DVD's that you would be hard pressed to tell the difference.

Other source material besides DVD is a mixed bag.

Actually, the HX41 series does do 3:2 pulldown, it was the older HX40 series that didn't do the 3:2 pulldown.

I've got the 36" version and am quite happy with the picture using an interlaced DVD player. If it weren't for the fact that I want DVD-Audio, I don't think that I would even upgrade to a progressive player.

Thanks for the info, folks. My dad has one of these and there isn't much of a choice for budget PS DVD players so maybe I'll get him a half decent interlaced one for Xmas instead.
