The SR-700 will have pre-outs for 7.1 channels. You can check the manual here.
    Edit: Fixed Link.

But on page 21 of the manual it looks like it only has pre outs for 6 speakers and a sub. Am I missing something?

You are correct James. It seems that the SR-700 will only have pre-outs for 6.1 channels. I have the SR600 and had originally looked at page 15 of the manual (which is the same for both the 600 and 700 models) where I saw 8 connections in the pre-out section of the receiver. I assumed that those would be for the 7.1 channels, but it seems that 2 of those outputs are for zone 2 and the subwoofer output is in a different place. Anyway, sorry about the confusion.

From my understanding, there is no "7.1". So-called 7.1 receivers output the same signal for the two center surrounds... so 7 pre-outs is all you need (6 speakers, 1 sub). If you're going to use external amplification for two rear centers, just split the output for the rear center or use a stereo amplifier that offers parallel mode.
