I've just read Peter Bracke's review of the Beaches DVD over at DVDFile and I must say, aside from MAR releases, a very disturbing trend is afoot at Buena Vista. I still contend that Ruthless People is a crummy-looking DVD, but based on what I've just read, Beaches could be much worse. I'm not a huge fan of this particular movie, but I'm greatly alarmed by how Down and Out in Beverly Hills and Big Business might end up looking as well. Especially coming from a major studio, I think it's pretty sorry to use a beat-up print and litter it edge enhancement. I don't care if the MSRP is $19, $14, or $9, a bargain price point is no excuse for terrible quality.

At least they seem to be releasing all her films, and in OAR. I'd be quicker to say that the Mouse hates Rick Moranis! [IMG]

I guess that is somewhat better than a crappy print in pan and scan. But I think the mouse hates everybody. Seems he's become a downright sociopath! [IMG]

Oh well...looks like it is $13.00 bucks at Costco that I can save.

I just pray that when Lilo and Stitch comes out in December that the film doesn't look like it came out twenty years ago. :b That aside, it seems that their animated titles is basically all they care about when it comes to transfers. Otherwise, if it is a family film or a Touchstone release, it is going to get the short end of the Disney Drink Straw...

    NO!

I've been looking forward to Beaches on DVD since buying my player.

I wish they'd care for that film. It may not break records, but I think it could be a big seller.

Think Bette and Rick are targets of bigotry on the part of Disney?

Look at Chevy Chase at WB. He is off worst of everyone!

Of course, they would have looked just as bad had they been P/S. So I'm counting my 16x9 WS OAR blessings but it is ashame the transfer/print weren't better.
