I see it in the product brochure: (under single channel back power amp...)

But in the Product brochrue I can not find anything thing:

What exactly is DD-EX. I just thought that if a receiver could do DTS-ES then it could do DD-EX? I notice that on the latest Onkyo receivers that the DD-EX is a big selling point and I am not finding Denon selling the DD-EX as much, but I think it can do it.
I just know that my Toy Story 2 DVD gives the option of having DD-EX as one of the sound formats to listen to the movie in and I really want to be able to take advantage of that. Also the 4802 and 5802/3 all have THX-EX and I assume that that is the same thing as DD-EX, just approved by THX, so why would the 2802 not be able to do DD-EX?
Thank you for your time and energy. Good day!

Yes, it can do DD-EX! DD-EX is not really 6.1 because 6.1 implies 6 discrete channels + the LFE. DD-EX is 5.1 but will decode and extract a rear signal from the two surround signals, just like the way Dolby Pro Logic decodes the front stereo pair for a center signal. When I play Star Wars TPM, though, my 2802 displays "6.1".

I think THX bought the rights to market DD '6.1' for home theater implementations, but couldn't come up with a name/agree upon a name/figure out a name/too confused to sort out their marketing/whatever reason... for it since some receivers where not 'THX' certified but can decode a rear signal. Someone correct me if I'm wrong, or explain better please.

I was wondering the exact same question so you're not alone. I bought the Denon2802 and was worried after reading the manual that it never said DDEX was decoded. It said DTSES but no DDEX. I said, "I should have waited for the Oynko700". Now my question has been answered after reading this and asking the same in the speaker section. I am happy now :) Now to buy those back speakers.
