I would like to know how the 4-discs are compiled and what content is featured on each. I'd also like to know if there are optional English soundtracks for the feature, (which I'd assume based on the 2-disc set), and I'd also like to know if the English tracks are available on the extra features as well (Commentaries, tv spots, etc)? Please post any and all info you might have. Thanks!

The date was pushed back from 11/05/03 to the 4th quarter of 2004 (!!!) so there can be a lot of changes on the details of this set.

From what I know, the 60min doc. on DVD#4 will be the doc from the series "The Directors"

    Cheers,

French only DVDs are meant for French speakers. They are no more likely to have English subs on extras than a Japanese Region 2.

I've several French discs where documentaries are in English but they overdub in French. Most French (like most people) don't like subtitles either.

Forced French subtitles (or any forced subtitles) can be removed on many players with no problem.

    How so?

I have the R1 disc of Fantastic Planet and the subtitles on the dubbed version are extremely distracting - are you suggesting that all dvd players have a way of overriding the subtitle function on discs where there are no toher options?

No. You'll have to search for the details but it's been posted here before.

I can remove forced french subs with my Toshiba 2109b.

I have a number of French discs with forced subs. (Scream, First Blood, Flash Gordon, Evita, English Patient.) The Toshiba will remove the subs from all of them.

    Play film. Press stop.
    Turn off subs.
Press "T" button, hidden under flap on remote.
    Select start time of 00:00:01.
    Press play.

    Film restarts without the subs.

From what I've read it seems only Toshiba and Panasonic players are able to overide forced subs.
