I can't wait for the MINI to hit the showrooms next week ... it might be the first NEW car that I get.
For the features, performance, looks, warranty and payment options ...it can't be beat.
And even though it's small, it can accomodate up to a 6'7" driver ...which I am!
What can I tell you ... a car that fits the vertically challenged. I'm there!
    Anyone else ...

My boss has one on order. I look forward to seeing it. I'm a convertable guy though, so there isn't really one in my future, despite my being 6'4".

How very European. I love it. I would love to get one if I wasn't so afraid of some moron in an unnecessarily large truck or SUV running me over. How much are they going for?

$20k ish. Of course the dealers are going to add an additional $10k of "dealer markup".

Yeah, they're not exactly cheap, whereby I think the original MiniCoopers were considered cheap for their time.
But new ones are cute, and the S model sounds sweet.
I haven't seen one in person yet, but I think my friend's old Triumph Spitfire might be smaller, of course the Spitfire is a convertable too. We have been temped to do the Griswold's Christmas Vacation trick a couple times of passing under an 18-wheeler between the trailer wheels. [IMG]

It seems like the wagon is the new automobile trend, with this one, the Ford Focus, Toyota Matrix and others coming out recently. They've always been my favorite style of cars, nice to see some new models coming out to choose from, now that I could actually afford a new car.

Though im 16, no job, no money, i really like the new Pontiac Vibe. I recently took a look at it in the showroom a couple days ago, it was NICE. Lotsa room for such a small car. My friend has a Protege5, which is only 1 inch shorter than the vibe, but the vibe has SOOO much more trunk space and rear legroom.
The 180HP Manual VVTi engine just gives me chills... i want one!!! [IMG]

I got to drive one today (Cooper). Let me tell you,
    they are fun!!!
It was so quiet inside....I mean very little cabin noise.
Btw, they are quite safe now. With six standard issue air-bags, even the most incompetent driver should be safe.
    Btw, I sell them!!!!

The Vibe, that's the one I was thinking of. I saw it for the first time last night on a commercial. It looks pretty good. I don't know about the "futuristic" front end though. I'm not really a fan of that style yet.

I am really liking all these sporty looking cars with room. If I could only bring myself to part with that much money. I guess I'll wait a few years, till this years models have come way down in price.

Cool car, but what kind of gas mileage does it get?

I checked the site and couldn't find anything listed...that can't be a good sign.

The car is actually not as small as the name suggests ... it is about the size of a VW Golf.
As far as performance, this qoute from Road and Track might put things in perspective:
"Our slalom test revealed that the Mini can thread through the cones with moderate understeer and keep a blistering average speed of 67.6 mph, besting any current BMW, any Ferrari, and most Porsches!"
So I'll be able to out manuver a 4x4 in any dangeros situation ... [IMG]
What car in the $18K range say that?
Anyway, I have a feeling the car will be a hit in the states... BMW makes the car under the MINI badge. Check out the feature options you get for the price.
As far as mileage ... looks like 30 city and 48 hwy ... this is from the Euro spec ones that has been out for a year.
Those of you interested. Check out www.mini2.com for a great forum

I love the Mini Cooper, but I'm more appreciative of the wagon trend overall.

If you like the Pontiac Vibe but can't get over the blocky, futuristic styling, then check out the Toyota Matrix. It's essentially the same car (rebadged), but with different styling and slightly different features. Both cars were developed as a Pontiac/Toyota joint venture.

Personally, I prefer the Toyota Matrix for its styling.

Gotta love that Mini Cooper, though.
