I really like DirecTivo units that are out now, but wouldn't buy a new DSS receiver without HDTV compatibility. Does any manufacturer have plans for one of these, or should I just bite the bullet for an HDTV only receiver now?

I doubt you will see any recoder type units for hd for quite along time if and when copyright protection issues are worked out..

Philips had a working HD DirecTV w/ TiVo at CES and said it would ship sometime this summer. This was also reported by one of the online magazines in their CES coverage (CNET I think). With all of the copy protection crap going on I think Philips was being optimistic.

Easy on the caps there Gary... At this time the only way to do hard disk recording of HD programming is through a HiPix card. However this recording is only limited to OTA HD. Thanks, Chris
