"Who" loyalists may cringe at the BBC's announcement that series six will open with Amy and the Doctor tearing across the United States. Production for the new series starts in Cardiff later this month and will shift to the Utah next month. The next series of "Torchwood" will also be dividing production between Cardiff and the US, in the latter case as a co-production between the BBC and Starz.

As the coalition government looks to aim its axe at the BBC in the near future, I wouldn't be surprised to see the Beeb turn to foreign partners for more of its staple programming.

The US as a foreign partner is extremely dangerous, since the US cancels shows willy-nilly.

It is just parts of two episodes that will be filmed in the US.

Besides that, another bit of interest is that

Season 6 will follow a Christmas special guest starring Katherine Jenkins and Michael Gambon and will air on BBC America in 2 blocks, one in spring 2011 and one in the fall.

I am going to guess that the spring episodes will be aired shortly after the appear on the BBC, while the fall ones will be long after.

I believe series six is airing as a split season in the UK as well. Apparently Mofatt ends 6.0 with a killer cliffhanger, and he asked for the split to build up the dramatic effect.

So has anyone been keeping up with the Sarah Jane Adventures? I've just managed to catch the season opener so far - a surprisingly strong start. The first half was mostly character building moments with just a bit of Monster of the Week tacked onto the end.

Cant wait for next week, where they have some old school guests show up again. Should be a blast!

According to This Week in Doctor Who (http://thisweekindoctorwho.blogspot.com/) its not airing in the US. Its possible they might show it at a later date but have the previous seasons been shown in the US? I'm surprised BBC America isn't showing it, especially since The Doctor was in 2 episodes last series and another 2 this series.

A couple of years ago I watched season 1 of the Sarah Jane Adventures on SyFy. I enjoyed a lot, and have assumed it was not renewed for additional seasons.

BBC Canada (in Canada obviously) was showing the older series, and showed series 3 about 6 months (or so) after it aired in the UK. At least we get that DVD set in January. Maybe we'll luck into seeing series 4 over here by the end of 2011. Heh.

Aside: Next week's episode pair features the new Doctor and Jo Grant (an old companion...)

The Matt Smith broadcast of Craig Ferguson originally opened with a big dance number set to the "Doctor Who" theme music, but it was pulled at the last minute because BBC refused to grant the show permission to use the music. It leaked online today, and it's bizarrely awesome:

Good news, Ladies and Gentlemen - The BBC has announced that Season Six Thirty-two will kick off on April 26th. Even better BBC America announced that IT will premiere the show on the same day:

So no lag between the UK and the States! Sweet! (I'll still probably acquire it through -ahem- other means, since it would still be faster than waiting for the west coast premiere. That and I dont have cable. . . .)

And no editing down to fit in the time allotted. Worst thing about BBC America.

Unless you catch it on the very first run. They dont edit them, I seem to recall, the first time they broadcast them. That said, you still have to endure commercials - so *ahem* other means is still the superior way to go.
