Wow, you guys take differing opinions of this game really seriously, and for some reason, personally.

It's an opinion. Let. It. Go.

Edit: Oh, EGM gave it 7.5, 8.0, 6.0. Ever think that maybe IGN was the bias one? Mmmm, sacriligious.

Heh, too bad there isn't an instant replay, eh Shayne? :) I always get a chuckle when the ball gets spiked into someone's face and they get propelled backwards.

Haha, I get quite a laugh whenever that happens. Once Christie spiked really hard and hit me on the head sending me flat on the ground. Another occasion was I spiked hard and the other person managed to hit it but the fell down and the ball went up again to our side. The next thing I know, Lisa, my partner was in the air and proceeded to spike the ball at the poor person still on the ground. :D

Showed it to my wife and we played for over 2 hours against each other in Exhibition mode.

A quick re-perusal of the manual, by the way, has answered my newest big gripe with the game; in a shop, hit the 'x' button to help figure out if you already own something or not. :)

Regarding Beach Spikers:
Lastly, the real, true opponent was your teammate. At the higher levels I spent the majority of my time trying to somehow maniupulate her into a suitable position.
Hmm, that doesn't sound like Beach Spikers to me. I finished the game twice, and I absolutley relied on my teammate, in some cases she was better than me, especially blocking ability/timing.

Anyway, I thought Eric's post was honest, well-argued and most importantly informative. I had huge reservations about this game after reading some reviews, and he spoke directly to the issues I was wondering about. That along, with other posts here that talk about general gameplay, and I think this game isn't for me.

I still might give it a rent, but I'm not as excited as I was when I first heard about it.

You're wrong, Rob. IGN is spot on because they gave a XBox game a high rating. Obviously they're right and every other site/magazine is wrong.

And Walter, ECM didn't like DOA:VX despite playing it for 80 hours. Get over it. A snide comment about being qualified to review games for a site you've deemed biased (earlier in this thread, for example) does you no favours.

Did you manage to sell your XBox by the way?

Eric, are you willing to share an unlockable stuff to
(1) show that you actually spent 80 hours on this game, (2) help others to get to know the game more, (3)little revenge to the company that screw you by ruining their secret? :) Since, whichever that is, you've found it just trying for long time, I don't think you'll be in trouble with Tecmo. It'll be a while someone else hit 80 hour mark, and even so, since that person is not a professional (more than likely), he/she won't find secrets as efficiently as you.

No Brian, I didn't sell it. I decided to keep it instead. Hmmm...I don't suppose that was a snide comment on your part, was it? It would be fitting, considering you're the King of Snide around here. Has that ever done you any favors? :rolleyes

Coming back to report:

there are secrets in this game: First off, people are clamoring over a "shady shop" you can get... nobody's gotten it yet. BUT people have unlocked Zack's statue and a hidden court too.

Not sure how to get the hidden court - something along the lines of doing very well in the games you play on each court (maybe blanking out the opponent)

Zack's statue is gotten by winning 10mil at the roulette.

I'll check back when I have more explanation - I haven't gotten these secrets yet and I'm busy trying to get them :)

Why thanks! It took a lot of time & effort, but I'm glad someone finally recognised my hard effort. Thanks again! I thought you weren't going to post around here any more? (And again, not a snide remark)

Thanks for the update, Anthony! Does anyone know where I could find information about what characteristics each blood type is supposed to have? I'm guessing that would impact what kind of gifts would work well for that person.
...off to play roulette.

No.

And if you don't believe me, well, I imagine I'll still be able to sleep at night.

Note: it's probably best not to imply, in any way, that someone is a liar when asking for something from said individual

Brian, this sarcasm, if I may call it such- does not become you, my little droogie. And I don't think it takes a whole lot of effort on your part to be snide, it really seems to come naturally. And to answer your question- I decided what the hell? The internet wouldn't be the fun place it is, if two people who didn't even know each other didn't get into a pissing match over dumb shit.

Later dude.

How about you get over it and move on? This thread is about Dead or Alive Extreme Volleyball, not your ability to use the word "droogie" creatively or to offer career advice to someone who simply stated his opinion.

Now, how about we move back on to topic...

Finally played the game yesterday. Not sure what to think right now. Its kind of a strange gaming experience. The volleyball will take some getting used to and the casino is pretty neat but I don't know if I'll be purchasing this one anytime soon. I've got it for another 5 days so I'll give it some time to see if its sucks me in or not.

PS. The graphics are gorgeus, I will give it that so far. MMMMMMMMM Lisa MMMMMMMMMMM (best Homer impersonation).

This thread and other threads on other forums have had the opposite effect on me. I had absolutely no intention of getting this game until reading the mostly positive and enthusiastic reviews of this game. Most the of the review sites have been more positive then Gamespot, which I put no weight on, and most of the posters on this thread have been generally positive. As a result, I went out and got this game on Saturday and so far so good :emoji_thumbsup:

Anthony - By the way, where did you hear that about the hidden court? (Not that I don't believe you - I'm just looking for more DOAX info)

Thanks,
Dave

Dave - been browsing other forums - namely gametalk forum and the Tecmo support forum.

Only a few people have talked about this, and they haven't been confirmed - it may just be a hoax =.

BTW, I have received the Venus from Lisa as Tina, and other people have had success giving the Venus to other people by pleasing the other girl a LOT.
