I was wondering if the major retail stores would even bother carrying these titles. Might cofuse Joe6pack,right ?
What about Best Buy & Circuit City ? Any thoughts ?

I hope Wal-mart will carry them. It's pretty much the only place that I shop for DVDs.

I saw a few Superbits in one of the Indianpolis Wal-Marts today. They also had both P&S and WS Mummy Returns.
What I didn't see was a copy of Phantom Menace. I was hoping that WM was the store reported in another thread as having it out already.

Whatever you do, try not to buy your dvds from places like this (wal-mart/k-mart, etc.) because they are the ones that are trying to sway dvd manufacturers/companies to make only Pan and Scan dvds. Don't support the devil on his way up from hell.

    I disagree.
Buy lots of DVDs from those stores, just make sure they are OAR and director's versions.
    Never buy the fullscreen/P&S version.
If you let the widescreen versions languish on the shelves when Mom 6 pack buys the full screen versions, they will have won. Trust me, Wal Mart is very influential to the studios.
Wally Mart had both Total Recall and Basic Instinct SEs. I only bought Total Recall because their BI was the "rated" version. I voted with my dollars, I won't buy edited versions.

I agree. Buy DVDs from the place that sells P/S. But of course, buy the WS only so they realize that there are people buying the WS.
It's about the percentages, not just the bottom line. If they sell only 100 DVDs and 98 of the buyer bought P/S, they will claim to the studios that 98% of the buyer buys P/S.
But if they sell 120 DVDs where the 98 units are P/S, the percentage becomes "almost 15% of the buyer prefers WS"
With me, I always take the time to fill the feedback slip and keep asking for more WS (I go there at least twice a week).

When these stores only carry P&S... go to the Manager and complain. Even if you have already bought it elsewhere in OAR. Go in and complain, make your vote heard.

Just got back from my weekly lunch break DVD hunt.
Seems that Circuit City has plenty of the older releases of CTHD, Desperado, and Fifth Element in the new releases area, but not a single Superbit title.
Checked Target, Walmart, Kmart, Suncoast, & Sam Goody with no luck in finding any Superbit releases, and some stores also showcasing the older releases as new releases.
Intersting thing is, both Circuit City's and Walmart's websites listed the new Superbit releases for today, so I was expecting to find them in stores (at least at Circuit City).
I'm hoping Best Buy still has some in stock by the time I get off work, if they even have any.

Just got back from Wal-Mart and they had all of the Superbit releases for today: Air Force One, CTHD, Fifth Element, Desperado, and Johnny M.
I only bought the Desperado Superbit because I have all of the other titles on regular DVD. I can't justify to myself why I should buy the others. Mainly because I'm broke!

The P&S situation is not the only reason I usually avoid the "Mart" stores for DVD's. It seems that they often (always?) carry only the "rated" versions of films. And I don't think they stock NC-17 titles either.

The local Wal-Mart had 4 of the 5 superbits, both the P&S and the Widescreen versions of the Mummy Returns and Godfather for $64.99.

If they (Walmart) decide not to carry widescreen-only titles then their collection will be very lacking and people will buy elsewhere.

As an FYI... my local WAL-MART also carries the SUPERBITS and was the first location I saw that had them for sale. They even had a special display to draw attention to them...

Just wanted to post and say that the Wal*Mart in Nitro WV has the SuperBit DVDs, both the P&S and OAR versions of The Mummy Returns AND the Jurassic Park discs too, which is unusual around here.
Guess I'm one of the luck ones.
