I've been trying not to rebuy titles on Blu-ray that I already own on DVD, at least for now -- not enough hours in the day to go through everything I own anyway! There have been a few instances where I've given stuff away, and some where I've kept both.

For instance, although I bought the new Sleeping Beauty Blu-ray, I'm still keeping the original DVD because of the excellent commentary track on it. I own 2001 on Blu-ray but will also keep the DVD because it's my all-time favorite movie and I hold on to all of my copies of it. But I gave away my DVD of "Casino Royale" when I bought the Blu-ray, as the BD has all of the special features as the DVD, so no need for both.

If it's a movie my kids are likely to want to watch I'll keep the DVD for use in the car or on the other TV. I also keep a few that I want to show on the outdoor screen during the summer since I don't want to haul my PS3 outside. Anything else gets sold if it's fetching a decent price or sent to my sister who forwards them on to our overseas troops.

Most of the time I sell/trade my dvds to a used cd/dvd store in my area if its something I dont watch anymore or i bought the blu.

However I kept both the origiinal release of The Warriors and the blu-ray. The sdvd first release of Warriors has the original cut of the film without the opening narration and the comic book panel wipes. The blu is the directors cut and has the extras.

Also kept the 4 disc Dawn of the Dead (1978) box set when I bought the blu.

True. And occasionally I'll sell something back to a store here, but most of the time, I just want to make sure these things find a good home. If I can make a friend or family member happy by sharing one of my favorite movies with them and giving them something to keep unexpectedly, it's nice to have that opportunity.

Got the Batman Digibook yesterday, but I doubt I'll be ditching that DVD, since it's part of the boxset. That would be a silly thing to do.

I'm just plain lazy.

I will have to sell my DVD doubles eventually (sooner than later). I just don't like bothering with all the Half.com stuff, going down to the Post Office, etc, etc. But as it stands right now a popular DVD is pretty much worth nothing as it is, so it breaks my heart to sell them for so little.

I'm like most here. Get rid of the replaced DVDs (in one way or another) if they don't interest our kids and are not some special favorites I'd like to keep around (whether for unported extras or otherwise).

I tend to lend movies out to family and friends (or might bring some along to parties or such), so I like keeping some good titles around for that purpose though I haven't figured out where to draw the line yet. :P Giving such titles away are not often the best way to go since most of our family and friends aren't that interested in owning titles (outside of certain very popular ones) -- they mostly just want to borrow for a while and then return them. If space permits (and I'm in no need of the tiny resale returns), I'm fine w/ continuing to be a lending library for them -- it's partly why I decided to own so many titles in the first place. That way, my collection can probably benefit more family and friends than if I simply gave them away -- at least until they've all borrowed certain titles already.

Also, I doubt I'll replace every single DVD title w/ BD anyway. Some are just blind-buys that I don't care to own anymore. And some may take many years before the BDs come out, if ever.
