I have just had a satellite system installed that receives Dolby 5.1. The quality is amazing, however, I have only found a few movie channels that are broadcasting in 5.1. Does anyone know if the networks broadcast any of their shows in 5.1

I am very new to all of this so any information will be greatly appreciated.

Rob,

HBO, Showtime, and Starz all broadcast 5.1 over the satellite, but not all the time and not for every movie.

A DD symbol on the guide is supposed to indicate 5.1, but even that's not reliable.

On DirecTV, ppv movies in letterbox (Look for LB on the guide entry) are usually in 5.1.

If your setup gets local HD stuff, ABC broadcasts in 5.1 for all programming sent out in HD.

Steve,

Thanks for the info. When I bought the system I was lead to believe that I could receive ABC, CBS, NBC, FOX and the Canadian networks in 5.1. Hopefully that will take place someday. Never the less the quality of the picture is well worth changing from cable.

Thanks for your help

Rob
