My DVD player died me recently and I'm going to replace it with a new progressive scan player (leaning toward the rp62).

I'm also planning on getting a new 16:9 HD RPTV, probably one of the next model Toshiba or Sony sets. I know that Toshibas don't lock into full but I was wondering about the Sony as it might affect which player I buy.

    Any tips/advice?

No, they do not. They only lock into 16x9 mode with a 1080i signal (33.75kHz). 480P can be either 4x3 or 16x9 mode.

They don't lock into Full on a 480p signal, but do on 1080i. I don't know of any 16/9 set that does not lock into full with a 1080i input.

    Steve,

There are a few Toshiba, Hitachi, and RCA sets that allow 4x3 mode 1080i - distorted of course...
