Do I really have to wait until June for The Two Towers!?!? (1 Viewer)

I've just about worn out my FOTR disk waiting for TTT to be released.

Then I checked www.videoeta.com and they tell me I wont see it until June! I may be mistaken but I thought FOTR was available earlier in the year than June... are they listing the 4 disk EE for TTT?

Anyone have any info on when TTT will be released? I've held off asking this question as long as I could. :b

Well, if you're an Academy member you wouldn't have to wait until June.

(I'm going to forego the obvious reference to bootlegs since you'll just have to trust that whoever is in possession of a Two Towers screener is actually an Academy member ;))

June 30th for the 2-disc is the rumoured date.
the 4-disc is still set for some time in November.

This date for TTT is at least a few days earlier than the 2-disc FOTR release. That came out in August. :)

Unfortunately you are mistaken. I believe FoTR came out on August 30th (my receipt is dated earlier because I preordered it online) and the Extended Edition was November 12 (that sounds right but I'm not 100% sure - for some reason that date is stuck in my head right now).

So if the rumored June 30 date is correct, we will actually get our TTT fix earlier than we got our FoTR fix (in relation to when the respective movies were making their theatrical runs).

I sympathize though, the wait can seem interminable for things like these...

I held out for the 4 disc set last time and by gum I'll do it again this year! It'll be hard, but I can do it. I know I can and I just have to keep telling myself that. Not literally of course.

Whoa! My receipt was dated August 1, 2002 but I could have sworn I preordered more than 5 days in advance! (which is why I was guessing the 30th)

Guess I must have waited until the "last minute"... :)

I rented the 2-disc set twice and that held me over till the 4-disc was released and I'll be doing the same thing again. :)

I have some kind of anti-rental gene that prohibits me from renting DVDs. I can't explain it, but I hope to be cured of my ailement eventually. No rush though. I just go cold turkey until November when I bum rush that shweet TT 4 disc set.

With a title like this it would really be neat if you could purchase the basic DVD, at a discount, on the way out of the theater!

Me too. I thought FOTR theatrical was spectacular. I thought the Expanded Edition was a cinematic masterpiece.

TTT had some of the greatest spectacle of last year, so I want to own it, but I hope the EE fleshes out the story a bit more.

An on-screen reminder below the widescreen horizon that appears about every 15 minutes on a free DVD currently in the loop(of course we're talking optimum screener here, not VHS junk) vs. waiting until June or November.

I guess it depends on how you weigh your appreciation of the LOTR movies, but screeners never hurt me none. ;)

Impatient as I am, I will end up with both versions again. No biggie though, I already have 6 different copies of Star Wars Trilogy, why should the best fantasy trilogy of all time be any different. Sigh... my poor wallet....

Well, they're really two different movies, if the distinction between the theatrical and extended versions of FOTR is any signal. I'm happy to own both, and just revisited both of them within the last month.

I bought the theatrical release of FOTR in August and sold it to a local shop when I bought the EE. I'll do the same with TTT.

Gary,

We must be related, because I have that gene too. Maybe it's just an anti-Blockbuster gene which is the only rental joint in town.
