I've been away from these boards for such a long time, i have a Toshiba 2108 DVD player, do i have any reason to upgrade to a new one? I'm viewing on a Samsung 27inch flatscreen (non HDTV). My player now already has DTS out and using component hookup to my TV.

I don't see any reason to upgrade right now as long as the 2108 is still working well. Save your money and wait until you upgrade your TV to HD, then go for a progerssive scan model DVD player. They get better and cheaper every year.

I'll emphasize it further. With your present display, if your Toshiba player is working fine you are okay for now.

Ditto that! Only when you upgrade to a larger progressive (480p) display then you may want to upgrade.
