I am going to pick up at least a pair of Mini Monitors on Tuesday and it costs an extra $35 (Canadian) to get the shielded version, with the possibility that they might not have them in stock. Do I need to have them shielded? I plan on using them as surrounds in an eventual 7.1 set up. Just curious...

If you are going to use the Mini Monitors as surrounds and, therefore, they won't be near your TV, I don't see why you need to buy the shielded version.

I just went through this too. If they have them shielded already, then I'd say go for it. If they don't have them in stock and you have to wait, then don't worry about it. I was told 2+ weeks for them to deliver a pair of shielded ones for me. My Titans came shielded at no additional cost, but they didn't have shielded Minis and would charge me to order them. By the way, the shielding is quite extensive and does an excellent job. It also adds a noticable amount of weight to the speaker.
