Do I need a new CD player for my vehicle? (1 Viewer)

Just recently, my 5-year-old CD player in my truck started making light static-light noises when playing a CD. The noise is frequent but not constant and not real loud (but noticable).

Here's the weird part: it does not start immediately upon listening to a CD; it kicks in usually around the second or third song. If I shut it off and turn it back on right away, the noise remains. If I keep it off for 15 minites or so, it plays fine for a couple of songs, then the noise returns.

The radio part of the unit plays great. This static occurs with all CDs.

Any advice?

Have you tried a lens cleaner? Could be dust buildup...

Are the cd's really hot when you pull them out? My friends player started to act odd and once the player was on too long the same thing would happen>..
