    Hi folks,

I'm about to buy a new townhome still
being built by the builder. My purchase decision
now rests solely on whether I'll be able to enjoy my
    HT w/o disturbing my neighbors.
I'll be attached on both sides to 2 other homes
(similar reversed floor plan) but the builder says
each unit actually has it's own wall with another
2 inch air gap seperating them. The entire seperation
is about 11 inches (including the 2 inch air gap).
Can someone help me translate this to the amount of
    sound isolation I'll have.

This is a tri-level unit (no one will be above or below me).
The other possibility is a storage room they're
building at the lowest level (garage level)
It's 15x15' and shares the wall with left neighbor's
storage room. I'm not sure what kind of issues I'll
have to deal with if I were to locate my HT there.
    I appreciate your feedback.

    Thanks
    AE

Even with that gap your going to have problems. My HT is a room within my garage and bass (at hight volumes) can still be felt all the way to the other side of the house.
I'd put it in the storage room. It's decent size, you might have some standing wave problems with the square layout, but that is tame-able compared to your neighbor's tempers if they don't like hearing/feeling your HT.
    Peace Out~[IMG]

    Ron,

Thanks. I thought about the Standing wave problems..
but like you said it may be fixable compared to the
    neighbor :)
The Garage and Storage is L shaped. Long leg of the "L"
is a two car Tandem garage (a long 1 car size). The short
leg of the "L" is the Storage room (15x15) which is open
on one side to my garage and joined on the other side
to the neighbors Storage room (shorter leg of neighbor's
"L"). I wonder whether I have enough space for my
    FP system.
