Do DVD players work harder to generate certain menus or play certain DVDs?

I noticed something today that was kind of wierd. I decided to play The Abyss:SE this afternoon just to relax and enjoy my system. The thing is, I ran into a funny problem I had when I bought the DVD a month ago. The DVD plays fine but for some reason it makes my DVD player make a noise that sounds like a cricket. I tried T2:UE and I had the same problem. I than put in The Replacement Killers and the noise stopped. My question is with both The Abyss and T2:UE the menus are kind of complicated. Could my DVD player (a Toshiba 2150) have trouble generating the menus? which could be causing the motor or something else to work harder? the noise is more of a distraction than a problem but it puzzles me. What could be causing this?thanks.

Some menus loop footage and so the player has to 'seek' the head back over and over... probably what you're hearing. No biggie, except for the noise.
