I have a PANASONIC S35 progressive scan and a non-progressive TOSHIBA SD-V291 DVD-VCR player. I've played certain discs, like the recent LOONEY TONES boxset collection on the PANASONIC.Disc three will either pixilate or freeze up on one of the shorts,TORTOISE WINS BY A HARE..I switch to my TOSHIBA,run the same disc,etc.. It runs perfectly. No pixilation or freeze-ups. The other night I played season four of the MASH boxset, again..I used my PANASONIC,lo and behold..the same trouble occurs on one the episodes,IT HAPPENED ONE NIGHT.Halfway through the episode, the pixilation occurs but then it seems fine again. It seems to run smoothly when I run the disc on my TOSHIBA.My question is why does this happen more on progressive scans than non-progressive scans. This TOSHIBA that I recently purchased is one of the very few non-PROGRESSIVE SCAN players left. All of the other DVD players are PROGRESSIVE SCAN.I like using more than one DVD player, but if I keep playing my DVD's on my PANASONIC..I'm worried that I am going to eventually wear out the DVD.Should I scrap the PANASONIC altogether??
