I'm looking to buy a minimum 1080i DLP HD TV that's at least 50 inches. I have heard Hitachi and Samsung are the way to go. Which do you guys reccommend for casual cable TV viewing and lots of Xbox 360 gaming? I'm looking to spend in the 2000-2500$ area(lower the better).

Also about the TV channels. Since I probably won't buy HD, is standard cable TV better looking then Digital cable on big screens? And what company offers the best service? Shaw?

You can get the 61" 1080p Samsung at BestBuy right now for under $2500 (a little more after tax). The 56" 1080p is just under $2100.

For tv stations, buy an antenna -- or better yet talk them into throwing one in with the tv. Best option is a UHF attic or roof antenna. Next best option is the Zenith SilverSensor (or clone). I can pick up about 8 different digital stations with many sub-stations (e.g. 3.1, 3.2) in my area over the air.

I have a 56 inch 1080p Samsung DLP for XBOX360 and PS3 gaming and HD movie watching. I love everything about it.
