Does anyone know why some people are not affected by rainbows, and some are? Are there any optometrists out there?

Can't say, but I think it has much less to do with optometry but instead "brainometry."

Some people don't know about it, some people may be bothered and not know why, and I think a big part of it is also how you view pictures.

for a couple recent examples of threads discussing it. Visibility also varies heavily on room lighting. Ambient lighting will make it less visible than dark rooms.
