I'm debating replacing my panny LCD projection TV with a current model panny DLP TV. Do DLP TVs need bulb replacements as frequently as LCD projection TVs? Also, do the current generation dlp tvs still suffer from the rainbow effect? The one I'm considering is the PT-50DL54.

Doesn't seem like much of an upgrade. I find Panasonic projection TV performance (CRT, LCD, DLP) to be of middling quality.

I'd recommend a Hitachi or Sony LCD. Much much better performance for the money.

Lamp life depends on environment.
Yes, you will still get rainbows.

PS: Panasonic's Plasma & Direct view CRT + LCDs are top notch however. Don't take it as a slam on Panasonic as a whole.
