Is it true that mounting it further back helps with RBE? I'm about to install the mount for my new HC4000 in a day or two and I can either mount it to the front or the back of the suggested throw distance from the Mits calculator. Will pushing it to the back help with RBE? Any help appreciated, the room is finishesd and I'm about to start cutting into the ceiling and fishing wire.

It is not true. Some people say that a dimmer image may reduce the rainbow effect, and by moving projector back, it dims the image slightly. If you are prone to seeing it, you will see it whether the projector is way forward or way back. I recommend you mount the projector at about the center of throw range.
