I just finished my DIY subwoofer (SVS driver). I used one of the channels of the Rotel 1095 to test it. During some parts of certain songs/movies, I can hear some loud poping sounds (like firecrackers). I don't know what I did wrong. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
  2. sounds like you are either clipping the amp (playing it too loud), or the driver bottoming out. If you are ported, your Rotel does not have a subsonic filter to prevent the driver from unloading resulting in bottoming out the driver.. You aren't doing anything wrong as far as your final design, just make sure you use a plate amp for the ported sub (plate amps have built in subsonic aka rumble filters). If you are sealed, then you are more likely clipping the amp which sounds similart to bottoming out the driver.
