The subject says it all, what is the best DIY s-video cable? And how do you construct it?
The answer is don't even bother to try it. S-VHS connectors have very, very small internal connections, and these are best soldered by a pro or even better a robot.
If you need a custom cable length have http://www.markertek.com make it for you
I made one using 2 separate 75-ohm Mogami cables (one for Y and one for C) and Ultralink connectors. Works beautifully. I soldered the connections without a hitch. The Mogami's were 22 ga. if I remember correctly, and the Ultralink's diameter on the back end was just right to let both the cables through.
It's not hard in my opinion. I've done it many times. All the items are available at your local Radio Shack. Just use a small tipped iron, fine soldering line and don't forget the proper flux.
