Anyone know if this would work well for general purpose interconnects (subs, active speakers or amps, component video, composite video).
Get these crimp on RCA plugs:
    Dayton RCA Crimp
With one of these RG6 cables:
    RG6U or RG6U Quad Shield
Is there any real advantage to Quad shielding? Do some interconnect no no's arise from these choices? Will these be better/worse/no different than cheap RatShack/Monster/AR etc interconnects?

Well, its just me...but if your gonna DIY, you may as well make the best, for either a little, or no more $$$.
You will also know, that if you hear no difference, then its unlikely your ever going to hear any differences between any cables.
Removes the element of doubt if you know what I mean.

Definitely, it won't cost much more to do it right the first time...
Check out the Audio Asylum www.audioasylum.com and these guys:
    http://www.diycable.com/home.htm
They provide cable in small quantities--actually entire kits--otherwise you generall have to buy a whole roll of cable, 100', could be more than you want initially...
Do a search of the archives at Audio Asylum before posting a question about DIY cables...

An excellent idea! Someday (I'm a procrastinator) I'm going to get at mine. Another frequently overlooked advantage to DIY interconnects is getting an exact cable length, a major plus for reducing clutter. Get the cable covers in lots of colors too. It could be fun!
