Hey guys. This is my first post!
I'm starting my first DIY project, and I'm going with Adire's SBB4 design with a tempest as the driver. And I have a question relating to every down firing setup I've seen.
Why do you always use pegs to elevate the box from the ground? Is "open" cross-sectional area very important? That is the only reason I can come up with. By using pegs to support your box, you really open up as much space as possible for air to move freely.
Personally I think they look kind of ugly, and I'd like to elevate my box similar to the way dressers or other cabinets are lifted off the ground. I'd like to use my side walls. I'd extend them 4" further, and cut an arch or some "nice looking" design at the bottom. Air could then flow, but probably not as freely as with pegs.
Could you guys comment? I could use the advice. Thanks.
