Does anyone have any recommendations for relatively small and inexpensive DIY mini-monitors for use with a computer?
Was thinking of spending $150 on a set of powered speakers, but thought it might be more fun to build them and get a used 2-channel amp.

www.decware.com has a really neat design for DIY electrostatic computer speakers. Cost is very minimal and the design looks pretty cool. All materials can be picked up at the local hardware store.

How big a box can you tolerate, and what bandwidth do you expect?

I really don't want to get much bigger than Adire's "Pop" (5.5"w x 11"h x 8.5"d). I'm not looking for audiophile quality or extension. I've got a decent sub (my old home theater sub), so I don't really need much low-end.
Thanks for the suggestions.

Oh well, the single 5.25" dia wide BW drivers I had in mind wouldn't do all that well in this volume, and would need to be XO'd at ~150Hz.
