There will be a gathering of speaker building DIYers in Atlanta on October 26, 2002. This is basically a show-n-tell event, a non-competitive event (the judging got really tedious last year).
If you are in the area, and want to listen to different speakers/designs, this is the place to show up and listen to what us southeasterners have been working on for the past few months/years.
Here is a webpage with all the pertinent details. The page also has links for other DIY2002 Events (Washington D.C., Iowa, Texas, and Dayton Ohio).
It will cost $10/person to offset the 2 meeting rooms rented at the hotel for the day. In my mind, it's well worth it to be able to listen and sample many projects that might encourage you to get into DIY speaker building yourself.
If you are interested, please let Rob Cheng know that you'll be attending by emailing him at [email protected]
    Hope to see/hear you there!

I am interested. I have nothing to bring but I would like to come and look. Do I need to send an email to him for just showing up or only if I am bringing something?

Doug, Rob would appreciate an email from you to RSVP, just so he can get a head count for the gathering.

I dunno, you people speak with a funny accent.[IMG] Maybe I should take a set up to north Texas for that DIY meet. Of course I could fly to Atlanta quicker than driving to NT. What's the price of a RT ticket on tree-top airways?

Sounds interesting... Dont have anything to offer yet (until I build my sub), but sounds like something I'd want to check out. I'm a jump away in the Magic City, but I could probably drive up for the day. I guess I arrived on DIY at the right time [IMG]

I go to Georgia Tech right in downtown Atlanta. I've just become interested in DIY and am most definatly going to come check things out. Hopefully i'll have my first project (sonosub, or maybe some 3-way tower speakers) ready in time to bring, but the only way that would happen is if i can squeez the time in while i'm home (in kentucky) for fall break. Either way i'm looking forward to it [IMG]

Come on up, Stephen! I be a GT grad as well, if you're an EE, you might want to check out Prof. Marshall Leach's Audio Engineering class if he offers it this year.

I'm not EE, but i might look into that class for next semester! I'm doin Aerospace Engineering, so i don't think any of my classes will be of much interest in the HT world :/
I wish tech had an acoustic engineering undergradmajor, cuz if they did i could get instate tuition through the accademic common market (which is what i'm doing in AE). If i'd been into HT when i started skewl, i may have looked into that major. I've only been into HT for a year (got my first system 'bout 11 months ago), and so far i've had 4 receivers, 6 sets of mains, 6 centers, 5 sets of surrounds, 3 different 6.1/7.1 setups, 4 subs, 4 different DVD players, and 3 TVs. I think i'm out of control [IMG]

Do you think we could get a list going with the following?
    1. Who is going?
    2. Who is bringing what (speakers)?
    3. What equipment will me there (amps, clio, etc.)?
    4. What will be needed still (equipment etc.)?

Maybe Pat could add it to the beginning of his initial thread & update it if need be.

I'm thinking I may show up as well. Not sure I will bring my Missile Silo with me, however. I can show off my Car Subwoofer I built, however. [IMG]
