50" Pioneer Plasma HD. Wondering what the 'proper' distance is for best viewing? How close or far should the couch be from the screen?

Thanks

To notice the benefit of 1080p, you need to be within 9'. To notice the benefit of 720p, you need to be within 13'

I no longer believe in TV size versus viewing distance charts.

Choose one:

1. Where the picture covers your field of view to give you a big enough experience without having to shift your eyes from side to side too much.

2. Where the TV can be mounted so as not to be in your way when turned off.

3. Just far enough away that you don't see the individual pixels.

If you haven't bought the TV yet, make a cardboard mockup the size of the screen and move it about the room to experiment with #1 and #2.

Do be aware that some folks get neck strain if the TV is mounted up high such as above a fireplace.

I sometimes sit on the floor about 6 feet from my 50 inch SDTV. The sofa is about 10 feet away.

I don't believe hydrogen and oxygen make water either, but the science behind it says it's so.
