Disney Chief Says Hackers Claim to Have Stolen Upcoming Movie (1 Viewer)

Walt Disney CEO Bob Iger revealed Monday that hackers claiming to have access to a Disney movie threatened to release it unless the studio paid a ransom. Iger didn't disclose the name of the film, but said Disney is refusing to pay. The studio is working with federal investigators.

Why would they have their movies on computers that are connected to the internet at all? Not to blame the victim of the theft but don't make it easier for people to pirate your movie.

They did it with the "Orange" series. If I remember correctly it was an audio production facility that was hacked. So it could be a third party.

Rumor was it's Star Wars Episode 8.

Just checked the release dates. If it's Pirates of the Caribbean, it's not that "big" a deal. It's coming out in 1 week and they can just avoid them. If it was with a larger release window, they could have worried then.
