Now...are the versions coming out *this month* these 2-disc versions? Or are we getting single-disc versions in May and then getting *separate* 2-disc SEs later in the year? I've preordered both but now I'm not sure what to do as dvdreview.com (where I got the quote from) has me all confused. This month doesn't seem "later this year" to my understanding and I wasn't aware the the rescuers would be a 2-disc affair.
The Love Bug is a 2-disc Special Edition. The Rescuers is a pretty basic standard 1-disc release. Neither will be re-released later this year.

Joe, I'll compare the red box trailer to the DVD tonight, but you have got to be kiddding when you say the original 1985 laserdisc, which I own, has better color than the DVD. The original LD has faded, washed-out color.

I used to use the original laserdisc and DVD to demonstrate to friends how far home video has come in 15 years. No, kidding, I really did -- that was one of my demos. The difference is night and day.

the color scheme... was not an accurate representation of what was intended by the filmmakers.
Not to be combative, but when I hear people say things like this, I have to ask, "How do you know? Did you work on the original film or have you heard one of the original filmmakers say this?"

Other possible questions would be: Have you seen original animation art or (even better due to photographic processes employed) properly timed prints approved by the filmmakers at the time of its release. Most of the people I have heard raising the issue were folks who could answer yes to both of those questions so I trust their opinions.

That's a damned shame that Scott MacQueen is no longer at the Mouse House. He did some wonderful work and truly cared about the material.
