I've currently got a dish PVR and I am about to buy an HDTV.
With the dish HD reciever, will I just be able to get HBO, SHOW, and PPV?
Will my local affiliate be in HD?
Are there national HD feeds on the Dish?
Or will I need to get a seperate HD set top box to get off the air transmission of local broadcasts?
I hope not, as I only have 2 componet ins on my set, and I'm also getting a new progressive DVD player.
    thanks

    thanks for the responses, guys.
I've got HBO- looks like I need to trade the extasy channel for showtime [IMG]
Do you guys know how much the 8VSB goes for?
The dish 6000 tuner is about $500, right?
Plus I guess I'll need a second dish, as well as an OTA antennae.
Sounds like a pricey little upgrade, but should be worth it. I'll just have to wait untill after christmas.

Last I knew the 8VSB cartridge ran $100. Contact your local DISH Network retailer.

    Rob,
While most Dish re-sellers have the 8VSB OTA module priced in the $139 - $149 range, I believe that you may find Sears selling the module for $99 (at least they were a couple days ago).
Sears sells the same Echostar Dish 6000 receiver, and OTA module under the JVC brand name, this 8VSB module will work in your receiver.

My wife just caved and I ordered a DISH 6000 system from Sears Saturday. I got them down to $600 from the $700 list, including free install on BOTH dishes.
The 8VSB module is now $150 at Sears and I passed on it, since my location gives me all the Networks, plus CBS in HD. [IMG]
Of course, now I have to buy an HDTV! [IMG] You see, I get the 6000 system, then tell the wife, look at this. All we need for HDTV now is the set! Am considering anything above 43" and below 56".
Please, God! Have mercy on me! [IMG]

    Rob,
You should consider yourself lucky! I had to work on my wife for nearly two years before getting a "Yes" out of her!
...on the other hand, if my wife ever becomes enthused about HDTV, or Home Theater, I will have to pick up a second job! She provides much needed balance and rationality.
Without her abilities to "regulate" my spending, I'd be back on my college diet of ramon noodles and beer! [IMG]

I live in Ann Arbor about 40 miles from Detroit . I can't get local HD OTA since I can't put up a roof top antenna. I'm planning to get the 6000 and get just the Dish NY CBS HD feed for the time being. I;d love to get the others. Is there any other way I can pull in OTA HDTV signals and use it with the 8VSB tuner? I hear Terk does not work well.
    Any insights?
    Thanks
