Heard something on the financial news this morning about Echostar aquiring Hughes to take control of DTV. Why would they want to when they have plenty of birds of their own. Would the FCC allow it? Would probably be good for DISH owners that have been deprived of DTV's "exclusive" sports packages.

Hughes has been for sale for a while now. Echostar would like to acquire DirecTv's 10,000,000 subscribers, of course! Would FCC allow it? Maybe. See www.dbsforums.com for some more information.

Gee, I hope this doesn't happen. I mean if it benefits Dish owners (like myself), in reference to the sports package then by all means. But I find DirecTV to be hard to read, and the movie packaging even at the price is just way too expensive.
