Directv Optical out & Koss Home theater in a box (1 Viewer)

Hello, I am using DirecTV receiver r15-300, and Koss Home Theater in a Box model ks4192, I connected the optical out to the optical in on the koss receiver. I don't get any surround sound with my directv. The Koss receiver is on and I have tried both aux modes. Any help??? Also what would be my optimal connections for my direcTV, Koss Receiver, and Phillips TV 25PT533s37c.Thanks in advance

Just a question off the top of my head, but is the optical output on the DirecTV STB active?

Not quite sure how to activate it, Under the audio setting there are a couple of choices Dolby On RF and Dolby On RCA???
