I read that if there is a "tenant use only" area on the outside of an apartment such as a deck or patio, you can mount the dish there.
Unfortunately, I do not have this luxury.
Can anyone tell me if they have had success with mounting the dish inside, pointing out a window?

yes you can do that it'll work if you have line of sight. I talked with my landlady and she let us put ours outside our upstairs entrance. Basically we said: if those people can put a plant we can put a dish.

If you want to install inside, Matty Blast's Satellite TV Solution for Apartment Dwellers will help. Link Removed
