Is there a box that combines all three:

    1. DirecTV receiver,

    2. HD tuner, and

    3. TiVo

Lots of boxes combine 1 and 3, and some combine 1 and 2. I understand that I can't record in HD, but still it makes sense (to me, anyway) to have all three in one box.

Does anyone make such a box?

I doubt there will be one until HD content can be recorded, too as it'll be too confusing for a J6P -- a box that receives SD & HD content but only records SD.

No such box, none likely anytime soon.

Closest you could come is a home-theater PC with a PVR program, an analog capture card (Radeon All-in-Wonder, for example) and an AccessDTV or HiPix card (for HD recording).

Nowhere near as good as a Tivo for the analog stuff, but would do it all.

Dish is working on a 921 model that will do this. Should be available in about a year.
